A Life Devoted to the Outdoors!

Sportsman Deane [Gonzalez] was born in Hollywood in 1944 to a military family.  As a young child he traveled throughout the United States, finally settling with his parents in their home state of Pennsylvania at the age of twelve. He spent the next six years learning  to hunt, fish, trap, and survive in the outdoors.
Deane graduated from Penncrest High School in 1962. Twelve days later, at the age of seventeen, he joined the US Navy.
In 1963, Deane was trained in underwater explosives and stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
He spent a lot of time in and out of submarines.  Honorably discharged in 1965, Deane remained in Hawaii. He worked as a lifeguard for the City & County of Honolulu while attending college. He graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in 1972.
Deane followed his passion and purpose of the outdoors and began a long-standing career in fishing and hunting throughout all of the Hawaiian Islands. His personal favorite is Kauai, revered for its fresh water streams, wild mountains, and lush tropical interior.

At the age of seventy three (don’t worry, he still outpaces most), Deane now spends his time with the Trout Unlimited Chapter #403, still fishing, hunting, leading and educating those that want an outdoor experience not available in the guide books!
