Deane graduated from Penncrest High School in 1962. Twelve days later, at the age of seventeen, he joined the US Navy.
In 1963, Deane was trained in underwater explosives and stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
He spent a lot of time in and out of submarines. Honorably discharged in 1965, Deane remained in Hawaii. He worked as a lifeguard for the City & County of Honolulu while attending college. He graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in 1972.
Deane followed his passion and purpose of the outdoors and began a long-standing career in fishing and hunting throughout all of the Hawaiian Islands. His personal favorite is Kauai, revered for its fresh water streams, wild mountains, and lush tropical interior.
